Scholarship Program

MVS 2010 Scholarship Winners

Our Scholarship Program is in memory of four of our members, Mike Dowe, Greg Gumbinner, Dean Peterson and Ralph Rockwood. These four men died at early ages. We honer their memory because these individuals exemplified the character and dedication to running and fitness that our organization encourages.
The scholarships are given to eligible seniors preparing for college who have participated in cross country, indoor track or outdoor track during their high school years. All high schools through out our membership area are notified of this scholarship opportunity. The students must submit a profile form along with an essay on " What running means to me."
Since 1998, we have distributed $23,400 to deserving young athletes. In 2010, eight scholarships were awarded at $500 each.
