Scott McGrath

Scott McGrath is a USATF Level 1 coach certified in Track and Field and a competitive club team racer. In the past, Scott competed for Bentley University and the University of New Hampshire, and holds personal bests of 1:56 in the 800 meters and 25:02 in the 5-mile. Scott currently competes for Central Mass Striders in the USATF New England circuit and enjoys events from 5k to the Marathon.

Scott has coached various teams on the youth and high school levels, nearly always culminating in state-level championship events. Most recently, Scott coached the Oyster River High School boys Cross Country team to a 7th place finish at the New England Championships this past fall. He is also trained in over 500 hours of gait-analysis and can make recommendations about which shoes might be right for you.

Scott currently lives in Amesbury, MA and will be graduating with a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of New Hampshire in May. His interest in education stems from a passion for the process of learning. He seeks to foster learning about the sport of running in a number of areas, including but not limited to: form and technique, running mechanics, diet and nutrition, strength and core dynamics, and plyometrics. Scott brings an enthusiastic and informed approach to coaching adult athletes. In addition to the wonderful social atmosphere MVS offers, Scott emphasizes personal improvement as a means to satisfaction and enjoyment of the sport.

The Merrimack Valley Striders is a member of USATF-NE [club #112], Road Runners Club of America and the Mill Cities Alliance.
